The Reefsleep Experience
Fantasea Adventure Cruising offers the opportunity of an unforgettable overnight stay on the Great Barrier Reef with the exclusive Reefsleep Experience. Fantasea Reefworld, a specially designed floating adventure platform at Hardy Reef, 40 nautical miles from the mainland, is home to Reefsleep, an experience like no other. Guests from all corners of the world have taken the once in a lifetime opportunity to spend the night at Reefsleep, enjoying the unique solitude, intimacy and tranquillity of the Great Barrier Reef over two days and one night. Reefsleep is the only permanent structure marine accommodation available like this in Australia.
Reefsleep features two types of exclusive accommodation: a luxurious king size bed (minimum 2 people) ideal for couples or honeymooners and a bunk style quad for friends, family or other guests. Both rooms feature bright interior décor reflecting the Great Barrier Reef and are air-conditioned with large private ensuites. There is also sufficient accommodation and facilities for live on pontoon staff who are on hand to cater for Reefsleep guests.
From the underwater viewing chamber (after dark is when the reef really comes alive) to the scenic viewing deck, guests are able to experience the peace and beauty of the Great Barrier Reef with only themselves and their personal Reefsleep host. All other day visitors to the Reefworld pontoon depart at 2.30pm and return at 10.30am the following day, so the time in between is exclusive to Reefsleep guests, when they can sit back with a glass of champagne and watch the sun set - and the stars rise - from the top deck of the pontoon. During this time, guests may choose to experience the reef first hand with a scuba dive or snorkel tour, with the reef solely theirs to enjoy.
Established in 1996, Reefsleep was upgraded in 2005 and refurbished again in June 2008. A Reefsleep stay includes overnight accommodation, alfresco dinner including wine, full breakfast, buffet lunches, sunset cocktails, two scuba dives or guided snorkelling safari, and use of Reefworld facilities including the underwater viewing chamber, semi-submersible, waterslide as well as optional extras such as heli-scenics and massage. Guests travel to Reefworld on “Fantasea Wonder”, a 28 metre, high speed, air conditioned catamaran, fitted out for day cruise operations.
